Privacy Policy
Last updated · May 18, 2026
Your trust is the only currency that matters. This policy explains exactly what data Stride collects, why we collect it, and the controls you have. Plain English, no dark patterns.
1. Who we are
Stride ("Stride", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Stride mobile application and the website at this domain (collectively, the "Service"). For questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, email info@jhobbie.com.
2. Data we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account info: name, email, and authentication identifiers (such as Apple Sign In tokens) when you create an account.
- Profile info: age range, sex, weight, height, running experience, training goal, and weekly availability — only what you choose to share so we can personalize your plan.
- Manual run logs: distances, durations, and notes you enter for treadmill or non-GPS workouts.
- Support correspondence: the contents of emails or messages you send us.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Location data (foreground only): GPS coordinates, speed, and elevation while you have an active workout running. We do not track your location in the background or when no workout is active.
- Health & motion data: with your explicit consent, we read steps, distance, heart rate, and workouts from Apple Health or Google Health Connect, and write your Stride runs back.
- Device & diagnostic data: device model, OS version, app version, language, and anonymized crash reports.
- Usage analytics: screens viewed, features used, and aggregate session counts to improve the product. We do not sell this data.
2.3 Information from third parties
- Payments: Apple App Store and Google Play handle payment processing. We receive a subscription status and transaction identifier — never your card number.
3. How we use your data
- To deliver the core Service — training plans, GPS tracking, coaching cues, and analytics.
- To personalize your plan, pace targets, and progress insights.
- To process subscriptions and handle entitlement.
- To diagnose crashes, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To send essential service messages. We will only send marketing email if you opt in.
We will never use your location or health data for advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Legal bases (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, our legal bases for processing your data are: (a) consent (e.g. health and location access); (b) contractual necessity (delivering the Service you subscribe to); (c) legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement); and (d) legal obligations.
6. Data retention
We retain account and training data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records for tax, legal, or security purposes. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytics.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your account and personal data.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent for location, health, or notifications at any time in your device settings.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@jhobbie.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Children
Stride is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including TLS in transit, encryption at rest, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; if you suspect unauthorized access to your account, email us immediately.
10. International data transfers
We process data in the United States and other jurisdictions. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for transfers out of your region.
11. California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To submit a request, email info@jhobbie.com. You may also designate an authorized agent to act on your behalf.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. If we make material changes, we will notify you in-app or by email before the changes take effect.
13. Contact
